Dr. Trisha Kong

Veterinarian
Dr. Grant Cumberbirch

Amherst Veterinary Hospital welcomes Dr. Trisha Kong to the Amherst family! Dr. Kong was born and raised in Hong Kong, where she grew up with pets; a hamster and a yellow Labrador named Logan. She moved from Hong Kong to Scotland and pursued her veterinary education at the University of Glasgow and graduated (with commendation) in 2015.

Trisha was ready to get her career off to a great start and relocated to Vancouver in the same year. She started her career at the Burrard Animal Hospital in small animal emergency care and was positioned there until 2017. For a while after that Trisha did some locum work at various clinics in the lower mainland; the Animal Emergency Centre of the Fraser Valley, Acadia, Richmond Animal Protection Society, Eagle Ridge Animal and Bird Hospital, VCA Como Lake/Highlands/Blueridge-Cove and most recently spent 3 years at the Yaletown Pet Hospital.

Trisha has a keen interest in soft tissue surgery and emergency and critical care, which is a great strength to bring to Amherst.

When Trisha is not working and caring for all kinds of pets she is busy playing ice hockey, skiing, camping and scuba diving in warmer waters.

Trisha doesn’t currently have pets of her own, but takes a keen interest in her sister’s cat Rolo and likes to think of him as her cat too.

We are very fortunate to have Dr. Kong join the Amherst family! As you can see, she brings a wide variety of experience with her to compliment the rest of our Veterinary Doctor staffing. Welcome Trisha! We’re looking forward to working with you.
