Principal and Veterinarian
Dr. Grant Cumberbirch

Shiena grew up in the Philippines and came to Vancouver  with her family in 2005. Among her interests are animation, she dreamed of working at a Disney Studio after high school. However, she found other interests and moved on to work in the hospitality industry as she also has a passion for travel. But….life throws other things at you, and she is now pursuing her ultimate goal of becoming a Veterinarian.

Shiena has volunteered at various vet clinics in Coquitlam and has finished her schooling as a Veterinary Assistant at Granville College in July of 2021. She recently applied to UBC Applied Animal Biology for the summer of 2022 and continues to follow her passion for animal care and moving forward to Veterinary Medicine in the future.

Shiena worked in the hotel industry for 5 years prior to pursuing her passion for animal care and has extensive background in customer service.

One of Shiena’s interests is in surgical procedures as well as large animal biology.

Shiena brings her natural skills of patience and positivity to dealing with each patient. She is task oriented and able to prioritize what needs to be done. She has always loved animals. Having her own pets cemented her desire to work in this industry.

In her spare time, Shiena likes to hike with her dog and spend time doing art and crafts.. She has a Great Pyrenees name Baron who is 4 years old. He loves walks and hikes and being in the mountains, but can be a bit skittish over silly little things he sees.

Shiena says, “I am very grateful and happy to be part of the Amherst Team where everyone is able to work together and truly cares about the animals. This is a place where everyone including doctor are willing to share their knowledge and it is a great place for learning so I can advance towards my goal of becoming a Veterinarian.”
