Union Gospel Mission is a local organization that helps those in need by providing meals, outreach programs, alcohol and drug recovery programs, and shelter and housing. Each year the Mission puts on the Gifts of Hope program, which provides Christmas hampers to families and individuals in need.
Amherst Veterinary Hospital has donated to the Union Gospel Mission for the last few years by participating in their Gift of Hope program. This year we bought two hampers, one for a family of five –a mother and her four children, and the other for a senior.
Amherst Veterinary Hospital provided the funds and the crew divided up the items to be bought. Each hamper consisted of a full Christmas dinner and gifts for each individual. Everyone enjoyed running around trying to find the perfect gifts to help make the holidays a little better.
On November 17th our staff got together to make up the hampers. Everyone had a great time bringing all the gifts together, excited to see what the others had bought. We then delivered the hampers to the Union Gospel Women and Families Center where they were greeted with enthusiasm and gratitude.
Everyone really enjoyed putting together the Gifts of Hope; we are proud to have participated in such a wonderful cause enriching the lives of others and giving back to the community.
